How to Create a 3D Building Elevation Photo

Most often when choosing a plan for your home or condo in the builder will give you a choice between a Standard and a Hybrid design. A Standard plan is usually what we are familiar with. These are the most traditional style house plans available on the market today. A standard plan offers a lot of flexibility, but does not require as much planning and detail. A Hybrid plan offers all of the benefits of a standard plan while being easier to build. The Hybrid plan also has some of the benefits of a standard plan.

Many of us know how to calculate the accurate site elevation. We know that to get a site elevation we need to add 50 ft to the front elevation of the home. So if your home has a total roof height of 15 ft it would be easy to calculate that you would need a total of about a 20 feet of clearance on each end of the first floor. So if you are looking at a 4050 ft building with a total area of about two hundred square feet then you would need to add another five feet to the front and back elevations.

So building a house plan with a total area of two hundred square feet requires two floors which are about forty-five feet per floor for the first floor, and another twenty feet front and back on the second floor. Add two stories to this and you have a grand total of one hundred and fifty feet. That sounds like quite a distance to cover from floor to floor, doesn’t it? It sure does. That is why it is a good idea to take a photo of your property and bring that photo along when meeting with your architect or builder.

A three floor plan is a good design because you don’t need to go through the whole building and the distance between floors is not as important as the actual building itself. You want the floor plans to be as simple and as logical as possible to follow. If you’re not sure what the building looks like from the outside, then it is highly recommended that you photograph it. Taking a good quality building photo is essential and it can help you make decisions about the structure later on.

An elevation photo gives you a great starting point. You can find elevation photos online quite easily. Just run a search in your favorite Internet browser for “building elevations” or something similar. In fact, you can download a free Google map so that you can determine the areas where you will be building so you can build the floor plan right to the ground. This will help you determine the position of important structural elements of your building.

Floor plans with elevations are ideal for multi-level buildings such as hospitals, schools, commercial centers and corporate head offices. These elevations will help your architect map out the building’s space before construction commences and you don’t have to worry about any complicated calculations.
